Trebinje, my first stop as I traveled across Bosnia & Herzegovina. Located in the southeast corner of the country, within the region of Herzegovina. It is a part of The Republic of Srpska, one of two constitutional and legal entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other being the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina where I would be headed next; it’s a bit confusing.

Trebinje is largely untouched by tourism and offered a great introduction to the country, allowing me to meet the locals and enjoy a couple of days hiking and hanging out along the river that cuts through town. I visited a couple of beautiful Orthodox Churches, and got to explore an abandoned Austro-Hungarian fort, complete with old bunkers built on top during the more recent Yugoslav Wars.
